Challenge
Closing the books meant hunting across ten disconnected tools
Sellers spent days each month piecing together their finances across 10+ tools, unable to see what was driving a mystery "Other" charge bucket. No pattern existed to fix it and so I had to build the foundation.

New Experience
Research
Learning a domain most designers never touched
I audited legacy tools, ran seller interviews, and taught myself the platform's payment cycle; mastering the domain before designing in it.

No trail across pages
A transaction's story was split across payouts, reports, and reserves — reconciling it meant piecing together three separate pages by hand.
No profit and loss view
There was no P&L sheet — sellers rebuilt one from scratch every month, a task that ate hours of their time each cycle.
Invisible reserves
Sellers couldn't see the status of money Amazon was holding, or when it would be released.
Approach
From Payments to Finance, then across orgs
In order to provide Sellers with a holistic view of their financial picture, I collaborated with 5+ product teams across 3+ orgs to create a shared vision that could scale. This included Payments, Fees, Profitability, Seller Wallet, Lending, and Multi-channel Fulfillment.
Workspace core
Financial Overview (P&L), Payout widget, Balance widget.
Management & reporting
Manage Transactions, Transaction Details, Manage Payouts, Payout Details, Finance Reports.
Partner programs
A wallet and currency-conversion widget for Seller Wallet; an incentive column in Manage Transactions for Lending and MCCF.

Success metrics
The Finance Workspace was included in the Amazon Accelerate (Annual Seller Conference) Mainstage Presentation! It was incredible to see the scale at which we were able to deliver and start collecting feedback from Sellers
Reflection
What made this work

Embracing ambiguity in an unfamiliar domain
I came into this with no finance background. Diving deep through internal stakeholder interviews, competitive analysis, and seller research turned that unfamiliarity into fluency.
I'm now the design SME other teams come to for anything finance-related.
Protecting one coherent experience
Choosing to resolve conflicts — Lending, Seller Wallet — instead of letting partner teams fork ahead took longer, but it's exactly why the vision scaled past my own project.
